Wing of Thrush or Hackle of Blue to match body of Turmeric dyed Rabbit/Hare. This is number 7 of Cutcliffe's patterns. This one like fly number 6 has a wing or hackle option.
This time I went to Francis Francis' book to determine how to tie the wing. He advocates for matched slips tied on after the body.
Side note - I pronounced Halcyon, Henry Wade's book, incorrectly. It should be said like /halsēən/
Recipe:
Thread: straw silk
Body: Rabbit tail, black part, Rabbit flax, and eyelid all dyed with turmeric
Wing: Thrush
or
Hackle: Blue to match
I did not have thrush, so I used slips from French Partridge primaries. I also do not have a rabbit tail so I used rabbit flax (shaved per Cutcliffe) from the darkest section of fur I have.
Enjoy!
